What each measurement means

The 57.15 mm face is what shows once the button is assembled. Around it there's about 4.76 mm of wrap per side that the press folds behind the shell, so the circle you print and cut measures 66.67 mm.

Keep text, names and logos inside the 52.4 mm safe area. Anything between the safe area and the visible edge still shows, but it sits on the curve of the edge and is harder to read. The background, on the other hand, has to reach the cut line, or a white line shows on the side.

Standard 2.25" or the BAM die?

The editor lists two 2.25" sizes. The standard one, listed under Tecre/ABM, is 57.15 mm face and 66.67 mm cut. The BAM 2.25" size is 60.32 mm face and 69.77 mm cut. They are not interchangeable: pick the one that matches your press, or the cut paper won't fit the shell.

The metric 58 mm button is a different size too (58 mm face, 68 mm cut).

How to print it so the cut lines up

The template has the 66.67 mm cut circle in red, the visible edge in green and the safe area in blue. If the red circle doesn't measure exactly that on paper, the printer's scale is the problem, not the design.

There's a 50 mm ruler in the top margin: measure it with a real ruler before you cut the batch. If it isn't 50 mm, check that the print dialog is set to actual size (100%) and not “fit to page”.

  1. 1Print at actual size (100%), not “fit to page”.
  2. 2Measure the 50 mm ruler in the top margin.
  3. 3If it still doesn't match, open Settings and adjust the scale in the Settings & Calibration window, or download the cut test sheet.
  4. 4With paper heavier than 150 gsm, turn on “Heavy paper” in the print window: it trims the printed area by 0.5 mm so the paper doesn't jam in the press.

Ready-made designs

These gallery templates are built at 58 mm. When you switch the size to 2.25" in the editor, the layers are scaled to the new circle, so check that the text still sits inside the blue safe line.
